No. The interface is designed for gelato makers, not developers. If you can use a spreadsheet, you can use gelatops. Onboarding takes minutes — there is nothing to install and your data syncs across any device with a browser.
Yes — that is the most common reason gelaterias adopt gelatops. Your recipes move from scattered spreadsheets to a single versioned database with per-litre ingredient amounts, automatic cost recalculation when prices change, and inherited allergen declarations. You can import your existing recipes manually or with our help during onboarding.
Every recipe shows live cost at 1 L, 5 L, 10 L and 15 L based on current ingredient prices. Update an ingredient price in one place and every recipe that uses it recalculates automatically. When you submit a production plan, the prices are frozen in a snapshot so your shopping list and margin are locked at submission time, even if prices change later.
Your shop sends a webhook to gelatops when a customer pays. The order lands automatically in your production queue with the recipe pre-matched, so there is no double entry. We support any shop that can call a Stripe webhook — including Stripe Checkout, custom Stripe-based shops, and most platforms that expose webhook events.
If your shop can fire a Stripe webhook, gelatops integrates with it. WooCommerce and Shopify both support webhook outputs that we can consume, and any custom shop using Stripe Checkout or Stripe Elements works out of the box. For non-Stripe setups, get in touch and we will assess whether a custom adapter is feasible.
gelatops takes a snapshot of all items and current ingredient prices, writes it to your history, and clears the queue ready for new orders. The submitted plan is read-only — your shopping list and total cost are frozen at submission time. From the frozen plan you can print it, export it to CSV, or tick items off as you buy.
gelatops covers all 14 mandatory allergen categories under EU Regulation 1169/2011 and is built so legal allergen disclosure on every recipe is automatic. Tag each ingredient with its allergens once and every recipe inherits the correct declaration, including allergens that come through sub-recipes. Compliance ultimately depends on the data you enter, but the system is designed so missed declarations become structurally hard.
Yes. A recipe can include other recipes as ingredients (sub-recipes), and any allergens declared on a sub-recipe automatically propagate to the parent. If you change a sub-recipe — adding pistachio to your praline base, for example — every parent recipe immediately reflects the new allergen list. Recipes with no allergens get an explicit 'contains no allergens' badge.
Yes. gelatops works for any frozen product — gelato, sorbets, vegan, milk-based, fruit-based and combinations. The recipe system is ingredient-agnostic, so a vegan sorbet, a dairy gelato, or a fior di latte all use the same tooling.
Yes. gelatops runs on AWS with encrypted connections, automated database backups and private infrastructure. Your recipes are your competitive advantage — we treat them accordingly. We never share recipe data with third parties, and you can request a full export of your data at any time.
